Dear friends,
No philosopher can have any realistic expectation of being read, so it is with great pleasure that I watch the subscriber count at Stranger Worlds creep up to nearly a hundred. I’m grateful to everyone who reads, and especially to the ‘Stranger Travellers’ who share their thoughts on each reflection. Thank you all!
Continuing from last months themes of the landscape of knowledge, October focusses on the relationship between empire and censorship, uncovering different ways of thinking about speaking. Starting with reflections that explore how censorship emerges as a tool of empire, the journey this month also tries to trace ways out of the oubliette of thought we have built for ourselves.
Join the Stranger Travellers
I am still seeking to find the ‘Stranger Twenty’, a chaotic band of free thinkers willing and able to discuss our principles for life. You can join either by giving Substack your money, engaging in creative barter, or making an exchange of paid subscriptions with other regular Substack authors.
Comments to this post are open, so please let me know if you wish to discuss joining the Stranger Travellers through creative barter.

I will edit any submission and get your sign off on any changes, so don’t be afraid to submit drafts.
With unlimited love,
Chris.
OK, but “escape plans on the walls” is at least a start.
Exciting. I’m especially looking forward to your thoughts on “the oubliette of thought we have built for ourselves.” Perhaps you will also make some suggestions for a way out, although “oubliette” implies there is NO way out.
