The theme for February is ‘Taking Action’, and the four reflections form something of a circle. From the Stoic philosophy of Epictetus, to the caution of Hannah Arendt in the face of the horror of the twentieth century, through the ugly recklessness of our time, and then back to the ancients with ‘the Old Master’ of the Taoists, before coming to rest gently against Epictetus once more in the final sentence.
