Dear friends,
This April on Stranger Worlds and How To Live in Them, I have four special pieces looking at the relationship between language, minds, and reality. These reflections were directly inspired by conversations I had in the comments with Frank, one of our Stranger Travellers.
I hope this is how our journey will play out: our discussions open paths for future discussions. So if you have the time and the inclination to talk about how we are going to share our planet even though we live in different worlds, I’d love for you to become a Stranger Traveller too!
To ensure good discussions, only paid subscribers get to comment. But the money isn’t the point of requiring a paid subscription: it’s proof of good will, an insurance policy against the ‘drive-by trolling’ other social media suffers from.
If you can’t afford the fee, I am also happy to engage in barter and trade ‘paid’ subscriptions in return for artwork, music, poetry, or anything else you might make. Just contact me at strangers at ihobo dot com and we can strike an agreement.
Ultimately, the question is: do you have the time and the will to have these conversations? If you do, I’d love for you to become a Stranger Traveller.
With unlimited love and respect,
Chris.
Hey! I’m just a subscriber here. Except for Matt joining us on some early pieces, it has been just Chris and me. Given that the internet now reaches into nearly every place on our planet, and Google can translate from and to almost any language, there must be a few more souls out there interested in dialoging on basic questions. What’s a basic question? For anything that happens, one can ask “why”. And then “why” again. And so forth. In the end, and even before that, one gets to basic questions. In response to “What are the basic philosophical questions”, ChatGPT will give you a list of REALLY basic questions.
I’m in this dialogue to improve my understanding of what was, what is, and what might be, so ANY question or comment is useful for me. Thanks for your attention.
